The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has the oldest and most popular citizenship by investment program since 1984 through property investment. A minimum of USD 400,000 investment in property qualifies the entire family for citizenship and passport.
Property buyers get full residency status in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis. They will have a permanent address in St Kitts and Nevis with right to abode proving genuine ties to the country when receiving citizenship. The purchase of real estate under the citizenship scheme is relatively straight forward process without any additional licenses required. Property buyers can have ownership as fractional share (vacation home), time share or fully deeded ownership, depending on their use.
Citizenship is not a requirement when buying a property, in that case a foreign national will need to apply for an Alien Land Holder’s License. The Alien Landholder’s License is issued for the purchase of a specific property by a specific owner and is non-transferable which is 10% of the value of the land or property as assessed by the Inland Revenue Department plus approximately 2% legal costs for an attorney to prepare and submit the application.
