Business travellers and frequent visitors from 40 countries can now benefit from faster entry to the UK following the expansion of the UK Government’s Registered Traveller service, which was started in Oct 5 ,2017.
Registered Traveller allows approved members, who have undergone advanced security checks, faster entry at the UK border through access to the ePassport gates (if they hold an ePassport) or the UK/EU passport lane. You also won’t need to fill in a landing card.
If you’re a Registered Traveller member, you can use either of the following at some airports and train stations:
- UK and EU passport entry lanes
- ePassport gates – if your passport has a ‘chip’
To be eligible to apply, passengers must hold an eligible passport and have a visa or have visited the UK at least 4 times in the past 2 years. The service is also available to dependents from 0 to 17 years of age.
Nationals of the following countries can register for the membership, according to UK Government press release:
Andorra, Bahamas, Botswana, Holy See (Vatican City), Macao, Maldives, Monaco, Namibia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Seychelles, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tonga and Trinidad & Tobago, United States, Australia, Canada and Japan
