Heavy demand of EB-5 applications from Vietnam reaches annual limit

The heavy demand of EB-5 applications from Vietnam is reaching the per-country annual limit in April, according to State Departments’s May 2018 Bulletin

E. OVERSUBSCRIPTION OF THE VIETNAM EMPLOYMENT FIFTH PREFERENCE CATEGORY

Continued heavy applicant demand will result in the Vietnam Employment Fifth preference (EB-5) category reaching the per-country annual limit during April. As a result it has been necessary to impose a final action date on this preference for the month of May to control number use for the remainder of the fiscal year. It can be expected that the Vietnam Employment Fifth preference category will remain subject to a final action date for the foreseeable future.

According to IIUSA,  In addition, the bulletin revealed that Vietnam will reach its per country visa limit during April and thus it has become necessary to issue a final action date for the first time ever. As of May 1 applicants from Vietnam who filed their I-526 petitions before July 22, 2014 will be eligible to schedule interviews with Department of State Consular offices and be issued conditional immigration visas to enter the U.S. or apply for adjustment of status if they are already in the U.S. This marks the second time in Program history that a country has been issued a cutoff date.
