Vietnam offers e-visa facility for 40 countries

Vietnam offers 30 day single entry e-visas for nationals of 40 countries to boost tourism and economic growth in the country.  The one time fee for e-visa is USD 25.

Vietnam has become a major tourist destination since the 1990s, assisted by significant state and private investment, particularly in coastal regions. The estimated international visitors to VietNam in August 2018 alone is 1.3 million arrivals and 1.5 million visitors from Europe and 9 million visitors from Asia in 2018.

The Decree No.07/2017/ND-CP guiding procedures of pilot grant of electronic visas (e-visas) for foreigners entering Viet Nam was issued by Vietnamese Government on 25 January 2017

Eligible countries

  • Asia: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brunei, China (not apply to Chinese e-passport holders), Japan, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Mongolia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, and Timor Leste.
  • Europe: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Romani, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  • Americas: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, United States of America, and Venezuela.

Border gates

The border gates allowing foreigners to enter and exit by e-visas include 28 ones, consisting of 8 air ones, 13 land ones, and 7 sea ones.

  • Air : International airports of Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Da Nang, Cat Bi, Can Tho, Phu Quoc and Phu Bai.
  • Land: International land border gates of Mong Cai, Huu Nghi, Lao Cai, Nam Can, Cau Treo, Cha Lo, Lao Bao, Bo Y, Moc Bai, Tinh Bien, Song Tien, Xa Mat and Ha Tien.
  • Sea: Ports of Hon Gai, Hai Phong, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City.

E-visa Conditions

  • Foreigners outside Vietnam Holding valid passport;
  • Not falling into the cases of suspension from entry prescribed in Article 21 of Law on foreigners’ entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam.

E-visa holders in Vietnam may be considered to get new visa if being invited/guaranteed by authority/organization/individual in Vietnam in accordance with Law on foreigners’ entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam.

Foreigners who entry Vietnam must comply with Vietnamese law.
