Greek golden visa hit by delays – No appointments until 2021 in Piraeus

Greek golden visa scheme is currently hit by administrative delays and long processing time due to understaffing in the southern region of piraeus and islands.

The Golden visa scheme in Greece soared in popularity in recent years, becoming the  the biggest golden visa scheme in Europe. The Port of Piraeus, attract large number of chinese investing in the golden visa scheme. It is the second most popular location for property investment  in Greece taking over Portugal and Spain.

Currently there are no appointments until first quarter of 2021 at the Aliens and Immigration Department – Souther Sector, Piraeus and Islands, according to the News.gr latest report.

A real estate broker of Athens-Attica Real Estate Association received this notice when he visited the migration office to file an application for residence permit for an client who purchased a property. The broker expressed surprise and disappointment

Applications for the residence permits for property investment must be submitted to the one-stop-service of the Aliens and Immigration Department at the Decentralized Administrations in the place of residence or at the Migration Department of the Ministry for Migration Policy.

There are four Aliens and Immigration Departments in Attica with jurisdiction over specific municipalities:

a) Aliens and Immigration Department – Athens A
b) Aliens and Immigration Department – Central Sector and Western Attica
c) Aliens and Immigration Department – Northern Sector and Eastern Attica
d) Aliens and Immigration Department – Souther Sector, Piraeus and Islands

According to Enterprise Greece, a a total of more than 1000 residence permits issued to property investors from Piraeus
