Wealthiest 10% of households hold 52% of total net wealth, says OECD report

OECD has published a report on how household wealth is distributed in 28 OECD countries.

  • Wealth inequality is twice the level of income inequality:
  • The wealthiest 10% of households hold 52% of total net wealth
  • 60% least wealthy households own little over 12%

Wealth inequality, measured by net wealth share held by  top 10% households highest in United States, followed by Netherlands and Denmark.

  • The concentration of wealth much higher in US, than in United Kingdom or France.
  • Financial wealth is highest in United States, New Zealand and United Kingdom
  • Real estate wealth is held highest in Luxembourg, Australia, Ireland, Korea, Italy, Portugal.
