New Zealand investor visas attracts HNWIs

New zealand with the population of 4.7 million is the least corrupt country in the world and second in the world with ease of doing business.

New Zealand has an advanced market economy, ranked 13th in the 2016 Human Development Index[8] and third in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom.

New Zealand offers two residence-by-investment programs for investors who want to gain residency in New Zealand –

  • Investor Visa (Investor 2 Category) and the
  • Investor Plus Visa (Investor 1 Category)

An eligible investment must be able to make a commercial return, be invested in lawful enterprises or managed funds, have the potential to contribute to New Zealand’s economy and must not be for personal use. There is a wide range of investments, including bonds, residential property development, commercial property, shares in New Zealand firms and banks, philanthropic investments and angel funds investments.

Investor 2 visa seekers must have $3 million NZD (approximately $ 2 million USD) invested in New Zealand for four years. Additional requirements are a minimum of three years of business experience, English language ability (IELTS band score 3 of the principal applicant and accompanying family members. Every two weeks, New Zealand Immigration selects EOIs from the pool based on points allocated. Those selected will receive an invitation to apply and will have four months to submit a complete application package.

 Investor Plus (investor 1) requires  applicants  to invest (US$7 million)are not subject to language, age, or experience requirements. Under the Investor 1 category, a candidate must invest $ 10 million NZD (approximately $ 6.8 million USD) or more into New Zealand over a 3-year period. An investor must meet health and character requirements and stay in New Zealand for at least 44 days per year in year two and three of the investment period.

New zealand passport is ranked 7th powerful in the world with visa free access to 182 destinations, according to Henley passport index.

According to New zealand statistics, 2258 foreign investors received Investor 2 visas (US$ 2m) and 310 investors ($10m) received investor 1 visas since 2008. A total of 7222 family dependents received investor2 visas and 962 family members under investor 1
