42% of Antigua CIP applications are from China

The Government of Antigua has published CIP report on Jan 18 regarding the citizenship by investment program of Antigua and Barbuda.

  • On Oct 17, 2017 the Government announced cutting of CBI program NDF contribution prices to $100,000 (single) and $125,000 (family) after being hit by Hurricane.
  • On April 11, 2018, the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda approved 3 major changes to the CBI program announcing Limited Time Offer, cutting joint real estate prices to $200,000 (totalling $400k ), removing due diligence fees, and removed the requirement for children under 18 to visit Antigua for citizenship.  The Limited Time Offer runs fromMay 1st and ends on October 31st, 2018.

According to the report, a total of 1121 applications received since the inception of the program to June 2017, of which only 42.6% from China (478 applications).

This is only half when compared to Grenada, which received 98% of CIP applications from China. Please note below applicants have invested $200,000 under NDF because it was only in Oct  2017, the Government cut the prices from $200K to $100K.

  • 4% of CIP applications from Russia(49) and Lebanon(49) each.
  • 3.5% of CIP Applications originated from Bangladesh (42)
  • 2.4% of CIP applications originated from the US (27)

Antigua CIP statistics

  • 69% of the CIP applicants interested in donation route for Antigua citizenship
  • 19% of the CIP applications (215) invested in Real estate with each investor contributing a minimum $400,000 each

Another very interesting route is Business route, and 135 investors (12%) invested in Business and acquired citizenship. Antigua requires a minimum capital investment of $1.5 million (single person) or jointly $5 million with each investor contributing $400,000 each.

It should be noted that Antigua and St Lucia are the only two countries in the Caribbean offering citizenship to investors under Business investment, through the citizenship by investment scheme.

Antigua has currently approved about 12 business projects that qualify under the CIP scheme.

A total of 2322 Antigua CIP passports issued from 2014 to mid 2017.
